Materials
Using materials that support the fragile resources of our ecosystem is central to our work. All of the materials used to make our bags and accessories, as well as the technique used and location or origin, are clearly listed for each item online, so you know exactly where your new BOTTLETOP piece has come from, how it was made, and with what.
Our brand name comes from the fact that we started out making bags using upcycled bottle tops, and this is still reflected in our designs. We use METAL on our signature classic bags, such as our original, the Bellani. Our highly skilled artisans use detailed hand crochet techniques, weaving the upcycled aluminium tabs, which started life as ring pulls on drinks cans, to create a soft, durable, lightweight chainmail fabric.
We also use paint in sumptuous tones to create our ENAMEL tabs which gives our signature chain mail a softer edge. Over time, the enamel finish will naturally break down in parts of heavy use, revealing the raw metal beneath in a way that is unique to each design.
Introducing a new standard of traceability in LEATHER sourcing, our bag straps, trims, belts and backpacks are made using Certified Amazon Zero Deforestation leather from farms that protect the rainforest. In addition, the linings in our Dani backpacks are made from recycled PET plastic.
